Thanks again for your generous hospitality having the Whistler crew back at Red!

Despite tough weather conditions for the races we still managed to get a few HUGE results for a few of our athletes and the last day of slalom training after the races was probably the best slalom training we’ve had all year!

JD Levine , FIS Coach , Whistler Mountain Ski Club

The WMSC FIS program stopped in at the RED Mountain Resort Legacy Training center in mid December for a quick prep camp before the Panorama FIS race series and got much more than anticipated. Not only was the training slope in excellent shape and offered great training, but we had the whole slope to ourselves! And to boot, we had excellent freeskiing on Granite and Grey mountains to warm up the legs for the gate training session.

In our three and a half days we racked up over 50 runs – 23 in the SL gates (over 1100 turns), 9 in the GS gates (260 turns) and another 23 freeskiing! Excellent accommodations, great friendly service and perfect conditions. Thanks Matt and thanks to the Training center for a quick but effective camp!

Dear Red:

On behalf of the Mission Ridge Ski Team, athletes, parents, coaches, and board of directors I would like to thank you for your continuing support of ski racing. The effort you put in to host quality races in a year of very tough conditions did not go unnoticed, and is greatly appreciated.

You made a huge difference in our athletes development as ski racers and as passionate life long skiers.

Ryan Shorter
MRST Executive Director

He said it is wonderful to have a facility of this caliber located in the West Kootenays he was happy to see that Legacy is already drawing teams from across the Pacific Northwest region. He noted that his team had a fantastic training  experience – the snow held up really well and was very consistent turn after turn. The coaches really appreciated “one stop shopping” – when checking in to their condo their welcome package contained lift passes as well as condo and wax room keys. Truly one stop shopping. They also ran apres ski dryland sessions in the gym facility at Slalom Creek and a core session in the amenity room.

Dylan Henderson – Head Coach of the Whitewater Ski Team

Our team had a great experience training at Red. We will definitely be back next year. You, Phil and Matt were all very accommodating and easy to work with. The training was productive and the meals and lodging were excellent. We actually regretted opting out of two dinners to feed the athletes in town. The meals you provided were as good as or better than anything we found in Rossland or Trail.

RED Mountain has historically been a ski racing community which is second to none. The resorts commitment to ski racing in this province is evidenced by their investment in a snowmaking system specifically to enhance racing and race training. With the addition of snowmaking to the top of Red’s race centre and the creation of the Legacy Training Centre at RED, BC Alpine will leverage training and racing in Rossland as much as we can.
